Onion Rice

This delicious rice, rich with onions will be the easiest rice recipe you’ve ever cooked.

Ingredients:

  • Rice – 300g
  • Big Onions – 250g
  • Butter – 02 tbsp
  • Cloves – 03
  • Cardamom – 03
  • Pandan Leaves
  • Curry Leaves
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • Water to cook rice
  • Chili Powder – 01 tsp
  • Pepper Powder – 01 tsp
  • Coconut Oil – 02 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Crushed Ginger Garlic – 01 tbsp
  • Roasted Curry Powder – 01 tbsp
  • Raisins (Optional)
  • Cashew (Optional)

How to cook:

  • First put washed rice into a pan and add salt, turmeric powder, pandan leaves, cloves, and cardamom into it.
  • After that add water to the level it needs to cook rice and cook it. You can add 01 tsp of oil into rice to prevent rice sticking together.
  • Until rice cooks, slice onions.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add ginger garlic and curry leave into it.
  • When ginger garlic becomes light brown add sliced onions and salt as per your taste.
  • We need to fry these onions under medium low heat until they become golden brown. It might take around 5-6 mins.
  • When onions are ready, add chili powder, pepper powder and roasted curry powder.
  • Then add half of the rice and combine.
  • Add butter and mix thoroughly with rice.
  • Add rest of the cooked rice.
  • If you have, you can mix some raisins and cashew at this point to enhance the taste.
  • Finally, mix the rice around 3-4 mins under medium high heat and turn off the flame.
