Perfect Date Chutney Recipe…

Date chutney is a sweet and tangy condiment made primarily from dates, often combined with ingredients like vinegar, and a blend of spices. It is commonly used in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines to complement savory dishes such as samosas, kebabs, and various appetizers. The chutney offers a rich, complex flavor profile that balances sweetness with a slight tartness, enhancing the taste of both snacks and main courses.

Ingredients:

  • Date – 520g
  • Sugar – 180g
  • Vinegar – 120ml
  • Fresh Garlic – 50g
  • Fresh Ginger – 30g
  • Chili Powder – 02 tsp
  • Salt – 01 tsp

How to cook:

  • Put hot water into date and soak them few minutes. This way it is very easy to remove the skin of these dates.
  • Clean and chop ginger and garlic.
  • Remove the skin, seed and the part that connects to the stem in the soaked dates. If your dates are very fresh and soft, you don’t need to soak them in hot water and remove the skin. You can just remove seeds and the stem part.
  • Blend ginger, garlic, salt, chili powder, sugar and around 3-4 tbsp of vinegar and make it like a paste. You can adjust the sugar quantity based on the sweetness of your dates.
  • Blend dates as well. Add little bit of vinegar to dates, so that it will be bit easy for you to blend them. If you like little date pieces in the chutney don’t blend them. Instead, just press them down with a spoon.
  • Heat rest of the vinegar in a pan.
  • When vinegar is heated, add the ginger garlic paste and stir in medium heat.
  • When the mixture is boiling, we can check whether salt is enough for your taste.
  • Finally add date and mix around 30-40 seconds.
  • When dates are well combined turn off the flame and let the chutney cool down completely.
  • Store the chutney in sterilized bottles and enjoy…
