Dhal (Parippu) Mallum

Dhal is a very common curry in our day today meal. Have you ever eaten dhal as a mallum? Let’s try that today.

Ingredients:

  • Masoor Dhal – 150g
  • Water – 04 cups
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • Few Cinnamon Sticks
  • Curry Leaves
  • Pandun Leaves
  • Grated Coconut – 01 cup
  • Red Onions – 07-08
  • Garlic Cloves – 04
  • Green Chilies – 03
  • Mustard – 01 tsp
  • Red Chilies – 03
  • Chili Powder – 02 tsp
  • Curry Powder – 02 tsp
  • Salt – 02 tsp
  • Coconut Oil – 01 tbsp

Method:

  • Wash Dhal very well and put into your cooking pot.
  • Add water, chili powder, curry powder, turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves, pandun leaves and green chilies.
  • Cook dhal for few minutes. But, don’t overcook.
  • Then heat oil in a pan and put mustard in to that.
  • Add curry leaves, pandun leaves, salt, garlic, onions and few cinnamon sticks into oil.
  • Cook them for few minutes and then add grated coconut.
  • Mix coconut well with all ingredients and then add cooked dhal.
