Potato Pan Cakes

This surprisingly amazing potato pan cake recipe that falls into comfort food category can be enjoyed anytime of the day. The recipe is so simple, yet unbelievably delicious.


  • Boiled Potatoes – 100g
  • Big Onion – ½
  • Green Chilies – 02
  • Curry Leaves
  • Small Carrot – 01
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Chili Pieces – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Pepper Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Fresh Milk – 500ml
  • Eggs – 01
  • All-purpose Flour – 150g
  • Tomatoes – ½

How to cook:

  • Chop onions, tomatoes, curry leaves and green chilies into finely thin pieces. Grate the small carrot.
  • Mash all boiled potatoes.
  • Transfer mashed potatoes and chopped vegetables into a bowl and add turmeric powder, chili pieces, pepper powder and salt as per your taste.
  • In a large bowl, mix milk and the egg together. Instead of fresh milk you can use coconut milk.
  • Gradually add flour into milk and make a little bit thick batter. Make sure the batter is not runny.
  • After that mix the potato mixture with the batter.
  • Finally, keep a non-stick pan on the stove and pour little bit of the batter on to the pan. Shape it into a circle.
  • Cook one side around 1 min and then flip the pan cake. Cook the other side also around 30-40 seconds under medium heat. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your pan cake.
  • Continue the process with the rest of your batter.
